George T. Gordon

George T. Gordon, age 86 of Morris passed away June 14th, 2023 in his home with his loving wife by his side. Born September 4th, 1936 in Marseilles, Illinois to the late Gilbert and Alice (Carpenter) Gordon.
George graduated from Marseilles Community High School in 1954. He joined the Army Reserve in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1964.
He worked as a US Postal employee carrying mail in Morris for 12 years, supervisor in Minooka and Batavia and retired as Postmaster in Yorkville in 1992. He also worked for 8 ½ years at National Biscuit and enjoyed 4 years at the First National Bank in Lockport.
He cherished time in his gardens, was an avid runner, fisherman and enjoyed watching sports.
George had a passion for collecting show cars as reflected by his many car show trophies.
Survived by his wife of 61 years Nancy (Hoffman) Gordon, daughter Connie (John) Wies of Morris, son Gregg (Trang) Gordon of Zionsville, Indiana, and son Gary (Cindy) Gordon of Plain City, Ohio.
George loved his grandchildren Alyssa (Tony) Veronda, Tyler Yard (Katie Walowski), Carson Gordon, Benjamin Gordon, Elizabeth Bottorff, Theresa Bottorff, Brad Wies and Kelly Wies.
Memorials in his memory may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Morris, Illinois.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Keck Mowry and Rev. Ayla Samson officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
