George A. Coleman, Jr.

Age 75 of Morris, passed away Saturday morning, May 10, 2008 at his home.

Born August 10, 1932 in Seneca, George was a son of the late George A., Sr. and Elva Bell-Coleman. He was raised and educated in Seneca and was a graduate of Seneca High School with the graduating class of 1949. George was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country from 1949, until being honorably discharged in 1955. It was in 1953 that George married Ingeborg Simon in Switzerland and together they resided the majority of their married life in Morris. George was employed as a custodian at Morris Hospital for numerous years until gaining employment as a diesel mechanic at Romine's Standard, from where he retired. He was a member of the Morris Moose Lodge and was known for his love of fishing, reading and fixing anything mechanical.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years: Ingeborg; four children: Robert S. Coleman of Morris, Heidi (Ronald) Manns of Port Orange, Florida, George J. Coleman of Morris and Krista (Patrick) Durkin of Shorewood. Eight grandchildren: Beth A. Crockett of Joliet, Ryan M. Coleman of Aurora, Christopher R. Durkin, Stephanie E. Durkin, Jason M. Durkin and Kevin P. Durkin, all of Shorewood and Erica Manns and Veronika Manns, both of Port Orange, Florida. Four great grandchildren: Alexis N. Crockett, Casey A. Crockett, Kayli D. Crockett and Justin D. Crockett of Joliet and four sisters: Shirley (the late Max) Ulis of New Mexico, Dorothy Barnes of Texas, Darlene Baughman of Wisconsin and Carol (Randy Poncher) McCullough of Washington, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

George was preceded in death by his parents: George A. Coleman, Sr. and Elva Coleman-Hanouw, and one grandson Devrin L. Coleman.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Thursday May 15, 2008 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (One block East of Illinois Route 47) in Morris. Funeral services will follow on Friday May 16th at 10:00AM in the funeral home with Reverend Richard Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Seneca and pallbearers will be: Robert S. Coleman, Patrick Durkin, Ryan Coleman, Jason Durkin, Christopher Durkin and John Durkin.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in George's memory to The Morris Hospital Foundation, 150 West High Street, Morris, Illinois 60450.
