Age 85 of Coal City, passed away Thursday January 11, 2007 at Morris Hospital.

Born July 31, 1921 in South Wilmington, Genevieve was a daughter of the late John and Angeline (Bottino) Pomatto. She was raised and educated in South Wilmington and graduated from Gardner-South Wilmington High School. On August 16, 1941 Genevieve married Domenic Veronda in South Wilmington, and together they lived in South Wilmington until moving to Coal City in the early 1950's. Genevieve worked at the Joliet Arsenal and Grundy County Home prior to gaining employment at the Fox Development Center in Dwight, where she retired as a Nurses Aid. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City and was a devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years: Domenic; three sons: David (Judy) Veronda of Channahon, Daniel (Brenda) Veronda of Ottawa and Dean (Kimra) Veronda of Coal City. Seven grandchildren: David A. Veronda of Channahon, Robert (Tammy) Veronda of California, Thomas (Nicole) Morris of Mazon, Stacey Veronda of Indianapolis, Indiana, Sarah Veronda of LaSalle, Adrienne (Charles) Williamson of Plainfield and Damien Veronda of Coal City. Seven great grandchildren; one brother Francis "Bud" (Cele) Pomatto; one sister Elaine McKune and two sisters-in-law: Helen Veronda and Betty Kauzlaric, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Mercedes Cacello.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Sunday January 14, 2007 between the hours of 3:00PM and 6:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow on Monday January 15, 2007 at 10:00AM in Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev. Mike Pennock officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Braidwood.
