Gene H. Warriner, Sr.

Age 80 of Wilmington, passed away Friday February 7, 2014 at his home.

Born July 11, 1933 in Wesley Township, Gene was a son of the late Francis and Anna Harding-Warriner. He was raised and educated in Wilmington, and worked on a farm prior to entering the United States Air Force. Upon his honorable discharge, Gene gained employment with Reynolds Aluminum prior to going to work with Amoco Chemical Company. He retired from Amoco in 1994, following 30 years of service. On December 12, 1958, Gene married Mary Lucille Highly and she preceded him on June 18, 2013. Gene was a life member of the Wilmington VFW Post #5422 and will be remembered for his love of airplanes, fishing and gardening.

Survivors include his children: Judy Warriner of Wilmington, Gina (Jim) Howell of Coal City and Gene H., Jr. (Vicky) Warriner of Emington; grandchildren: Carl Goodwin, Keith Goodwin, Tiffani Howell, Josh (Tracy) Warriner, Amber Howell and Katie Kavanaugh; one great granddaughter; one brother Jimmy Warriner of Wilmington and two sisters: Delmae Calhoun of Wilmington and MaryLou Fanning of Elwood.

Visitation and video tribute will be held on Tuesday February 11, 2014 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow at Wednesday morning February 12th at 10:00AM in the funeral home with Bob Aiken officiating. Burial with full military honors will be held in Wesley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gene's grandchildren: Carl Goodwin, Keith Goodwin, Tiffani Howell, Josh Warriner, Amber Howell and Katie Kavanaugh.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Gene's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.StJude.org)
