Gary A. Leopold

Age 55 of Joliet and formerly of Wilmington, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2016.

Born April 4, 1961 in Manteno, Illinois Gary Allen was a son of Lewellyn and Dorothy Ann (Schmidt) Leopold. He was raised in Wilmington and graduated with the Wilmington High School Class of 1979. He attended Joliet Junior College, and went on to graduate from the Police Academy. Gary worked as an officer with the Rockdale Police Department and the Will County Forest Preserve, as well as in other local municipalities. He enjoyed playing poker and was a baseball fan, especially that of the Chicago Cubs.

Survivors include his two sons: Michael Leopold and Luke Leopold, both of Braidwood; brothers and sisters: Sandy (Mark) Lotzer of Rockford, Dan (Julie) Leopold of Orland Park, Bill (Kelly) Leopold of Coal City and Lori (Mike) Millerin of Wilmington, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Lester Leopold and two sisters: Jacquelyn Leopold and LuAnn Geiss.

Visitation and video tribute will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Graveside services and burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Gary's memory to his family for their distribution.
