Frank B. Ulmanek

Age 90, formerly of Bull Shoals, Arkansas and the Lockport and Romeoville areas, passed away Sunday April 5, 2015 at the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno.

Born April 2, 1925 in Joliet, Frank Bernard was a son of the late Anthony and Mary (Gora) Ulmanek. He raised and educated in Romeoville, and went on to honorably serve during World War II in the United States Navy throughout the Pacific Theater of Operations. Frank worked as a laborer, and retired from the Laborers Local in Chicago. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion, and in his free time, took pleasure in fishing, boating, hunting, camping and the outdoors.

Survivors include: one daughter Mary (David) Stowe of Wilmington; one son David Ulmanek of Bull Shoals, Arkansas; (12) grandchildren; (31) great grandchildren; (17) great-great grandchildren, and two brothers and one sister: Alois (Pat) Nikiel, Joseph Nikiel and Ann Nikiel, all of Lockport, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; wife Edith (nee Stelow) and several brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 10, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service 12:00 Noon at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Burial with full military honors will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois at 1:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be: David Stowe, Tom Stowe, Bob Kemph, Eric Daca, Daniel Stowe and Arnie Martin.

Preferred memorial may be made as gifts in Frank’s memory to: The Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad.
