Frank Anselmo
Age 87 of Coal City, passed away Monday evening, January 30, 2017 at Morris Hospital.
Born July 10, 1929 in Coal City, Frank Joseph was a son of the late Frank A. and Lena Bosonetta. He was a 1947 graduate of Coal City High School, and went on to honorably serve in the United States Army. On September 21, 1957, Frank married Theresa Jane Drnec in Assumption Catholic Church, and together they made their home and raised their family in Coal City. Frank's work began at Dupont before gaining employment with the Coal City Courant, where he was a printer for many years. He later went to work with the Coal City Community Unit School District #1, from where he retired as Director of Buildings and Grounds in 1991.
Frank was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Coal City; Coal City Area Club, where he was a past board member, and the American Legion, where he served as past Commander. He held a seat and was past president of the School Board for the Coal City Community Unit School District #1, and was appointed as a Coal City Police Commissioner. Frank was also active with the Boy Scouts, as a Scout Master and Commissioner for Rainbow Council. He was proud to have been a Silver Beaver Recipient.
A 'Jack of all Trades', Frank took pleasure in welding and woodworking. He also greatly enjoyed the outdoors, and loved to fish, hunt, camp and golf.
Survivors include his wife Jane; two daughters: Ellen (Mike) Smith of London Mills, Illinois and Betsy (Bill) Stahler of Coal City; four grandchildren: Matthew (Erin) Smith of Galesburg, Illinois, Sarah (Justin) Defreitas of Bartonville, Illinois, Mary (Sam) Spurney of Sheboygan, Wisconsin and Jim Stahler of Galva, Illinois; two great granddaughters: Cecilia Smith and Charlotte Smith; one sister-in-law Ruth (the late Paul) Everts of Diamond and several nieces and nephews, including Linda Friddle of Coal City.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister June (Earl) Benge.
Per Frank's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Sunday, February 5, 2017 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block north of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. A memorial service will follow Monday morning, February 6th at 10:30 a.m. in Assumption Parish - Berst Center, 150 South Kankakee Street in Coal City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be presided by Reverend Ed Howe, CR and Deacon William Dunn. Inurnment with full military honors will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
