Francis V. Kulig
"Frank"
Age 91 of Morris, passed away June 30, 2010 peacefully at his home. Born February 3, 1919 in Morris, he was a son of the late Albert & Mary Kulig. Frank married Myrtle Peterson on August 3, 1940. She preceded him in death on April 2, 1972. He served in the US Navy from March 3, 1944 until October 19, 1945. On November 14, 1980 he married Georgene Wilson, she preceded him in death on November 5, 2007. He was a self taught artist and sign painter. For many years he was employed as a graphic designer for Morris Paper Mill, later Federal Paper Board Company. He was a faithful Red Cross blood donor and had given over 15 gallons. Because of his of love music Frank was a volunteer each month playing his electric keyboard at all three Morris Nursing Homes including Ellliot Manor and Saratoga Tower. His yearly trips to Florida were one of his favorite enjoyments. Frank was a lifetime member of the Immaculate Conception Church, The Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.
Survivors include his daughter: Kathleen (Arthur) Hornsby; three grandchildren: Heidi (fiancAC.e John Durso) Hornsby of Chicago, Shawn (Wendy) Hornsby of Morris and Aaron (Christine) Hornsby of Bloomington; eight great grandsons: Blake Hauschild of Chicago, Zachary, Seth and Will Hornsby all of Morris, Trevor, Ian, Hayden and Max Hornsby of Bloomington; one great granddaughter: Hilary (Logan) Biggs of Marseilles; one great-great granddaughter : Julianne Hauschild Aguilar. Also surviving are four step-children: Barb (Robert) Tesdal, Ruth Ann Matteson, Janice (Paul) Wicks and Debbie (Rob) Ralston; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A special thank you to Roxann, Cindy, Casey and Amy, who gave such excellent and loving care. Frank was preceded in death by his parent; two wives: Myrtle and Georgene; one brother: Edward Kulig and three stepbrothers: Joe, Albert and John Fisher.
Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Monday, July 5, 2010 between the hours of -5:00pm and 8:00pm at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block East of Illinois Route 47) in Morris. Frank will lie in state in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 514 East Jackson Street in Morris, on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 from 9:00 until time of Funeral Services at 10:00am, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Richard Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shawn Hornsby, Aaron Hornsby, Zachary Hornsby, Raymond Paulson, Robert Tesdal and James Garling.
Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Frank's memory to the Immaculate Conception School Endowment Fund or the Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice.
