Francis Patrick Hanley
"Frank"
Age 94 of Morris and formerly Verona, passed away Thursday morning September 8, 2011 at his home.
Born March 17, 1917 in Morris, Frank was a son of the late Walter Patrick and Ellen Cahill- Hanley. He was raised in rural Verona and graduated from Dwight High School. On August 16, 1941, Frank married Louise Murphy at Immaculate Conception in Morris and together they lived on the family farm in rural Verona until moving to Morris in 1976. Frank farmed his entire life in the Verona area and also worked as a Union Carpenter. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local #195. Frank greatly enjoyed carpentry and wood working. He also played baseball until late in his life, as well as coached youth baseball. Frank was an avid sports fan and will forever be remembered as truly family oriented. He could often be found attending his grandchildren's events and functions, as well as baking, which included homemade pies and perfect chocolate chip cookies.
Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years: Louise; three children: Roger (Donna) Hanley of Tampa, Florida, Ken (Mary Carroll) Hanley of Morris and Judi (Craig) Nettleingham of Ottawa; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one brother Bernard Hanley of Chestnut Hills, Massachusetts; three sisters-in-law: Vi Mathisen of Gardner, Virginia Zdroj of Farmington, Missouri and Doris Murphy of Geneseo, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, including his special cousin Bob Hollenbeck of Seneca.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: his twin, Bill Hanley, Ray Hanley and three sisters: Loretta Kuhn, Salena Miller and Zita Halloran.
Visitation and Video Tribute will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 514 East Jackson Street in Morris on Sunday September 11, 2011 between the hours of 4:00PM and 7:00PM. Funeral services will follow Monday September 12th at 10:00AM in the Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Ed Howe, CR officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Morris. Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jim Halloran, David Hanley, David Breo, Ed Kuhn, Jim Washburn, Jay Nettleingham, Ben Donahue, Chad Hooper and Tim Hanley.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Frank's memory to the Immaculate Conception Building Fund, 516 East Jackson Street, Morris, Illinois 60450 or Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice, 518 West Illinois Avenue, Morris, Illinois 60450
