Age 87 of Diamond, passed away Tuesday August 14, 2007 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home in Joliet.

Born January 25, 1920 in Joliet, Floyd was a son of the late George and Mary (Louisa) Calcaterra. He was raised and educated in Joliet and attended Washington School. Floyd then moved with his grandparents to Coal City and was a graduate of the Coal City High School Class of 1937. On August 16, 1941 Calky married Norma McLuckie in Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City. In 1943 he then entered into the Army Airforce and was a Bombardier, having served in Carlsbad, New Mexico, Miami and Boca Raton, Florida and Burlington, Vermont prior to being honorably discharged in 1945. Calky worked for A.P. Green Clay Pit for 19 years until gaining employment with Material Service, where he was employed as a heavy equipment mechanic and later oversaw the maintenance operation prior to retirement in 1986. Calky was the mayor of Diamond from 1947 to 1967 and was water commissioner for 20 years. He was commissioner of clay pool drainage for 6 years and was a past school board member, who served three terms and was influential in the local school consolidations. Calky was involved with the set-up and planning of the Coal City Area Club and was also a past officer. He was known to be a "Jack of All Trades" and in his free time Calky enjoyed tractors, farming and golfing.

Survivors include his children: Mary Lynn (the late James) Cerutti of Aurora and James (Jane) Calcaterra of Sugar Grove. Four granddaughters: Jennifer (Julio) Calabrese of Sugar Grove, Jill (John) Fazio of Oak Park and Elizabeth Cerutti and Lynn Cerutti, both of Oswego. Four great grandchildren: Luke Calabrese, Dylan Calabrese, Delaney Calabrese and Isabella Fazio; two sisters: Teresa (Alfred) Evans and Georgine (the late Joseph) Szawars, both of Joliet and brother-in-law Norbert (Shirley) McLuckie of Diamond, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Calky was preceded in death by his parents, wife Norma in 2004, one brother Louis Calcaterra and his son-in-law James Cerutti.

The family will receive friends on Saturday August 18, 2007 from 9:00AM until time of services 11:00AM at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 80 North Garfield Street (at First Street) in Coal City. Rev. Larry Boutelle will officiate and interment will follow in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Morris Color Guard.
