Everette Casey

Age 77 of Coal City, Illinois and formerly of Cicero, Illinois and Chicago, Illinois, passed away on November 3, 2023, at his home in Coal City, Illinois. Known by most as "Casey", he was born in Buchanan County, Virginia on August 28, 1946 a son of Andy and Roxie (Stump) Casey

He was raised and educated in Kentucky before being inducted into the United States Army, where he served during the Vietnam Conflict. Following his honorable discharge, Casey began his professional journey at Western Electric as a Rod Mill Operator. Over the years, he witnessed the evolution of the company through mergers and retired from Lucent Technologies. Following his retirement, Casey embarked on a new chapter of his life by joining the United States Postal Service. For a decade, he relished working alongside his son at the Chicago Bulk Mail facility in Forest Park.

In his leisure time, Casey enjoyed gambling and playing darts, engaging in these activities that brought him joy and relaxation.

Survivors include his children: Diana (Bob) Grogan, Timothy L. (Kathy) Adkins, and Lisa Kerr; grandchildren: Casey Pantazopoulos, James Osborne, Timothy J. Adkins, Samantha Grogan, Jeremy Adkins, Jacqualine Jacob, Robert Grogan, Briana Adkins, Zak Grogan, Frank Osborne, Jesse Osborne, Elizabeth Kerr, and Mason Kerr; great-grandchildren: Ethan Vescovi, Ian Hood, Logan Osborne, Brody Osborne, Niko Pantazopoulos, Layla Jacob, Sophia Jacob, Dean Adkins, Gabriel Jacob, Violet Vargas, and Scarlett Vargas, and two brothers, Russell and Phillip.

Casey was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Phyllis Casey on April 29, 2016; four brothers: Western, Perry, Frank, and Bob; one sister, Mary; and his son-in-law Johnny Kerr. 

Cremation rites have been accorded and Casey was laid to rest with military honors in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
