Age 91 of Coal City, passed away Saturday afternoon, November 26, 2011 at Morris Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Born January 9, 1920 on a farm in Channahon, Evelyn was a daughter of the late Louis D. and Irene Long-Liberty. She moved to Coal City and married William "Bud" Phillips on May 6, 1940 in Assumption Catholic Church. Evelyn was employed as a seamstress at Hyman Tailoring and later worked as a caregiver on the special education bus in Coal City. She was named Coal City's Woman of the Year in 2001, and her memberships included Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, where she was active with the Altar and Rosary Society and Grundy County Senior Citizens. Evelyn will be remembered as being an active volunteer within the community.

Survivors include two children: Patricia (Richard) Zelinko of Coal City and William Phillips of Orion, Illinois; her son-in-law Lee Collier of Carbon Hill; eleven grandchildren: Joanne (Mike) Morrall, Robert (Terri) Collier, Chris (Brenda) Collier, Jonathon (Toni) Collier, Phillip "P.J" (Cassie) Collier, Cathy Collier, Allison (Jeff) Post, Carrie (Brian) Bush, Doug (Kristi) Phillips, Matthew (Angie) Phillips and Adam (Chris) Phillips; twelve great grandchildren, and her sister: Josephine Murphy of Coal City, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bud on February 14, 1975; two sons: Donald, and one in infancy; daughter: Donna Collier on November 27, 2009, grandson Jeffrey (Julie) Zelinko on October 22, 2010; four sisters and three brothers.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Tuesday November 29, 2011 from 9:00AM until 10:30AM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow Tuesday at 11:00AM in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 245 South Kankakee Street in Coal City, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Robert Noesen officiating.

Burial will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.

Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be: P.J. Collier, Chris Collier, Mike Morrall, Kyle Morrall, Bob Phillips, Terry Phillips, Matt Phillips, Doug Phillips and Adam Phillips.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Evelyn's memory to a charity of the donor's choosing.
