Evelyn L. Macketta
Age 84 and a lifelong resident of Coal City, passed away Thursday May 31, 2007 at Walnut Grove Village in Morris.
Born July 10, 1922 in Coal City, Evelyn was a daughter of the late Thomas and Kathryn (Gianu) Barra. She was raised and educated in Coal City. Evelyn married Joseph J. Macketta in Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City, where she was a member and together Joe and Evelyn lived their entire married life in Coal City. Joe preceded Evelyn in death on August 12, 1999. Evelyn enjoyed reading, cooking, crossword puzzles and working in her yard.
Survivors include three sisters: Marian Barra of Coal City, Kathryn (George) Winkel of Morris and JoAnn (Norman) Wills of Mazon. One sister-in-law Helen Barra, one brother-in-law James Wilson, Sr. and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe, two brothers: Thomas Barra, Jr. and Frank Barra; four sisters: Carrie Passini, Minnie Dransfeldt, Betty Wilson and Helen Barra; one nephew James Wilson, Jr. and one brother-in-law Earl Dransfeldt.
Visitation will be held on Saturday June 02, 2007 from 9:00AM until time of funeral service 10:00AM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Rev. Mike Pennock from Assumption Catholic Church in Coal City will officiate and burial will follow in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Evelyn's memory to a charity of the donor's choice.
