Evelyn Loskill Tomasic

Age 80 of Braidwood and formerly of Joliet, passed away Friday evening, May 19, 2017 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

Born March 11, 1937 in Joliet, Evelyn was a daughter of the late Edward W. and Genevieve E. (White) Joutras. She was raised and educated in Joliet and graduated from St. Francis Academy. Evelyn went on to marry John Loskill, November 7, 1955, and together they were blessed to welcome seven children into their family. She worked at Eagle Grocery Store in Joliet for 20 years until relocating to Las Vegas, where she gained employment with Harrah’s Casino. Following 12 years in Las Vegas, Evelyn returned to Joliet and transferred to the Joliet Harrah’s property until her retirement at the age of 65. It was after her retirement that she then took up being a sous chef for her youngest daughter Sherre.

Evelyn loved bingo, and enjoyed passing the time playing video poker on her tablet. Her grand puppies Trixie, Sophie and Lucy Belle meant the world to her, and she took pleasure in spoiling them at every opportunity. Evelyn was an extremely social soul; had a personality larger than life, and never knew a stranger. She cherished her children, and surrounded herself with everything important to her, and everything that she loved.

Survivors include her seven children: Steven (Carrie) Loskill of Florida, David (Gaylynn) Loskill of Arizona, Debbie Jackson (James Howard) of Braidwood, Robert Loskill of Wisconsin, Michael Loskill of Arizona and Linda (Sam) Rath and Sherre (Eloy) Valadez, both of Braidwood; six grandchildren: Tiffany Loskill, Tricia Loskill, Carl (Savana) Loskill, Nichole Loskill, Paul (Crystal) Rath and Eric Rath; one great granddaughter Bella and numerous nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband John Loskill on April 25, 1976; son-in-law Michael Jackson and eleven brothers and sisters.

Visitation and video tribute will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017 between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow Friday morning, May 26th at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet, where Evelyn will be laid to rest with her late husband John. Pallbearers will be: David Loskill, Michael Loskill, James Howard, Eloy Valadez, Carl Loskill and Tom Martin.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Evelyn’s memory to her family for distribution to local charities of their choosing.
