Age 86 of Morris passed away Tuesday January 2, 2018 at her home surrounded by family.

Born August 8, 1931 in Baring, Missouri, Evelyn Maxine was a daughter of Amos and Tresa (nee Callahan) Elliott. She was raised and educated in Kirksville, Missouri and on August 21, 1949, she married Arnold Lee Castanier in Kirksville. Evelyn worked for Illinois Bell phone company until she retired in 1989. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Morris, who put God first in her life, and enjoyed reading her Bible. Evelyn was gifted with her sewing machine, whether it was making clothes for her children or mending them. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who cherished spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband Arnold; three children: Vicky (Marty) Odum of Seneca; and Janet (Ed) Burkhead and Mark (Sue) Castanier, both of Morris; seven grandchildren: Alby (Kelly) Odum, Sarah (Sam) Farmer, Ian (Bethany) Odum, Ethan (Kristen) Burkhead, Jesse (Laura) Burkhead, Amber (Adam) Stambaugh, and Kelsey (Matt) Panico; and 19 great grandchildren, with two more expected this year.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; one son in infancy: Randy Castanier; one sister: Erma (Gerald) Crawford.

Per Evelyn’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded.

A memorial service will be held on Friday January 5, 2018 at First Baptist Church, 1650 West Route 6, in Morris at 11:00 a.m.  Pastor Steve Larson will officiate.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Evelyn’s memory to First Baptist Church of Morris.
