Evelyn Bozue

Age 94 and a lifelong resident of Gardner, passed away Wednesday May 7, 2014 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.

Born March 11, 1920 on a farm in rural Gardner, Evelyn was a daughter of the late Walter and Inger Severson-Olson. On January 2, 1937, Evelyn married Arthur Bozue, Jr. and he preceded her in 1995. Evelyn worked for the Joliet Arsenal and later gained employment with Johnson & Johnson, from where she retired after 28 years of service. Evelyn was a member of the Church of Hope in Gardner, where she was active with the Women's Association. She also belonged to the Eastern Star and Amaranth. Evelyn enjoyed playing euchre and Uno, and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law: Kenneth A. (Bonnie) Bozue and James A. (Debra) Bozue, both of Gardner; four grandchildren: Joel A. Bozue of Frederick, Maryland, Jennifer R. Bozue of Joliet, Ashley R. Bozue of Gardner and Carl L. Sipes, III of Washington; two great granddaughters: Grayson and Lyla Sipes; one sister Marjorie (the late Charles) Byers of Naperville; two sisters-in-law: Lucille Spencer of Brighton and Gloria Olson of Smithton and several nieces and nephews, as well as special care givers: Letecia Cueto and Laura Shireman.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arthur; brother Donald Olson; nephew Ronald Byers and niece Susan Byers.

The family will receive friends at the Church of Hope, 202 North Monroe Street in Gardner on Friday May 9, 2014 from 9:00AM until time of funeral service 11:00AM. Reverend Jan Chandler will officiate the services and burial will follow in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Ken Bozue, Jim Bozue, Joel Bozue, Jennifer Bozue, Ashley Bozue and Carl Sipes.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Evelyn's memory to Church of Hope, Joliet Area Community Hospice or to the Gardner Emergency Squad.
