Eva June Thompson

Eva June Thompson, 97, of Morris, passed away Monday December 11, 2023 at Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet.
Born June 23, 1926 in Morris, she was the daughter of Perry and Fern (Cash) Rygs. She graduated from Morris High School with the class of 1944. Then she worked at the aircraft factory in California and became “Rosy the Riveter”. Later she attended cosmetology school in Joliet. For many years she was self- employed as a beautician until her retirement.
She is survived by her children, Lynn ( Robert, deceased) Valerio and Kim ( Don) Shannon both of Morris; five grandchildren, Derek (Jane) Valerio, Kristin ( Paul) Ehrman, Wes ( Kate Carey) Shannon, Chad (Amy) Shannon and Amanda Valerio; 16 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her loving husband, Melvin in 2020 and one sister, Madge Burrell.
She enjoyed cooking, playing cards and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the Lightways Hospice.
Graveside services will be held Friday, December 29, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Keck Mowry officiating and a luncheon will follow the committal service.
