Ethel Severson

Mary Ethel Severson, age 86 of Gardner, passed away Friday January 2, 2009 at Walnut Grove Rehabilitation Center in Morris.

Born August 13, 1922 in Selvin, Indiana, Ethel was a daughter of the late William Everett and Elsie Gurine Hale-Spradlin. On September 07, 1940 Ethel married Harold Severson in the Prairie Lutheran Church and together they have lived their entire married life in the greater Gardner area. She was a member of the United Lutheran Church in Gardner and enjoyed listening to Christian Music. Ethel took pride in her home and family, and greatly enjoyed spending time with her children, grand children and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her loving husband of 68 years: Harold; three children: Elsie (Paul) Jerbi of Daytona Beach, Florida, Everett (Dorothy) Severson of Gardner and Eyvonne (Roger) Dock of Shorewood; Eight Grandchildren: Scott (Ninez) Jerbi of Geneva, Switzerland, Julie (Jeff) Kaplan of Oviedo, Florida, Brian (Karen) Severson of rural Dwight, Evan (Lynne) Severson of Clinton, Illinois, Nathan (Sheila) Severson of Emington, Heather (Josh) Betsworth of Gardner, Dwain (Lyn) Ashton of Leesburg, Florida and Dawn (Chris) McBride of Waukesha, Wisconsin; Eighteen Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends at the United Lutheran Church, 309 East Jefferson Street in Gardner on Sunday January 04, 2008 from 12:00 Noon until time of funeral service 2:00PM. Reverend Royan Rodney will officiate and burial will be in Round Grove Cemetery in Dwight with Ethel's Grandchildren acting as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Ethel's memory to the Building Fund at the United Lutheran Church, 309 East Jefferson Street in Gardner, Illinois 60424.
