Age 93 of Wilmington, passed away Sunday January 14, 2007 at Embassy Care Center in Wilmington.

Born September 06, 1913 in Coles County, Illinois, Ethel was a daughter of the late Clem and Jessie (Roberts) Coartney. She married Ted Harrell in 1932 and was well known in the Wilmington Community, having served in many capacities. Ethel worked at Hermes Womens and Childrens Store, drove a Wilmington School Bus and later worked as a dietician for District 209-U at Bruning School.

Survivors include her loving son Lyle (Mary) Harrell of Orion, Illinois; four grandchildren: Kip Harrell of Phoenix, Arizona, Kim (Tom) Adlfinger of Rock Island, Kelli (Rock) Walker of Geneseo and Kent (Julie) Harrell of Waseca, Minnesota and five great grandchildren: Mitchell and Melanie Walker and Eva, Vivien and Charlie Harrell. Three sisters: Maridean Barton of Coal City, Iris Jean Bell of Waco, Texas and Betty Sanders of Paw Paw, Michigan and two brothers: Bill (Tidge) Coartney of Alpine California and Don Coartney of Prescott, Arizona as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ted, son Gary and five brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be held on Friday January 19, 2007 from 1:00PM until time of funeral service 5:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street (two blocks North of Illinois Route 53 / Baltimore Street) in Wilmington. Rev. David Lagos-Fonseca and Rev. Shirley Pulgar-Hughes from the First United Methodist Church of Wilmington will officiate and a funeral dinner at the Methodist Church will immediately follow the services.

Private family burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington.
