"Corky"
Age 75 of Braceville, formerly Coal City, passed away Sunday August 26, 2012 at Morris Hospital.
Born April 1, 1937 in Joliet, Corky was a son of the late Eric Johnson, Sr. and Rosella Mann-Johnson. He was raised in Joliet and honorably served in the United States Air Force. On July 21, 1967, Corky married Mary Shoudis and she preceded him in death on January 6, 2004. He was employed as a Concrete Finisher, retiring from Local Union #75. Corky was a member of the Ford Galaxy Club and the Coal City Area Club. He greatly enjoyed fishing and hunting, and will be remembered for his love of classic cars.
Survivors include five children: Tanya (David) Kellogg of Braceville, Craig Johnson of Verona, Brenda (Neil) Bohac of Morris, Eric "Rick" (Darcy) Johnson of Braidwood and Mark (Robin) Johnson of Massachusetts; one daughter-in-law Lisa Johnson of Mazon; (16) grandchildren including Kayla, Kelsea and Kody Kellogg, Alexis and Tori Johnson and Richelle Scott; eight great grandchildren; two brothers and one sister: John (Annis) Mann, Judy (Fred) Troup and Ronald Johnson; one brother-in-law: William (Mary Lynn) Shoudis and sister-in-law Irene Clark, as well as his companions Bo and Daisy.
Corky was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary and two brothers: Charles "Snooky" Johnson and Darwin Johnson.
Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Thursday August 30th, between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow Friday August 31st at 11:00AM in the funeral home with Reverend Dr. Thomas Logsdon officiating. Burial will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Rodney Gibbons, Greg Sorensen, Adam Clark, Ken Stoecker, Andy Hartley, Kyle Mann, Kody Kellogg and David Kellogg. Dean McKinney and Junior Wren will be an honorary pallbearers.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Corky's memory to his family for distribution to charities of their choosing.
