Elsie E. Hooper
Age 84 of Wilmington and formerly Symerton, passed away Friday morning, July 8, 2016 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
Born November 11, 1931 in Arland, Wisconsin, Elsie Elaine was a daughter of the late Gustav and Anna (Bentz) Osterman. She was raised and educated in Wisconsin and on August 6, 1955, Elsie married Donald Lee "Buck" Hooper in Symerton. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Wilmington and took pleasure in playing pinochle and bunco. Elsie will be remembered for her love of ceramics, crocheting, cooking and baking.
Survivors include her daughters: Sherry (Steve) Carlock of Sparta, Tennessee and Terri Putnam of Wilmington; four grandchildren: Shauna (Chris) Hidlebaugh of Ashburn, Virginia, Shane Carlock of Alsip, Jonathan Putnam of Wilmington and Jeremy (Karen) Turner of Towanda; two great grandchildren: Lillian Hidlebaugh and Kolton Turner; one brother Harold (Diane) Osterman of Minnesota; one sister Martha Feiertag of Wisconsin and one sister-in-law Beverly Hooper of Virginia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Don; three brothers: William, Walter and Albert and one sister Eleanor.
Visitation and video tribute will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow Wednesday afternoon, July 13th at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Tom Kingery officiating.
Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington, where Elsie will be laid to rest with her late husband Don.
Pallbearers will be: Shane Carlock, Jonathan Putnam, Steve Carlock, David Hooper, Jim Sternisha and Rick Vaughn.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Elsie's memory to the First United Methodist Church of Wilmington Building Fund.
