Betty King

Age 72 of Wilmington and formerly of Joliet, passed away Friday afternoon, July 8, 2016 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

Born July 24, 1943 in Newark, Ohio, Elizabeth Dorothy was a daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Mattea) Alt. She was a graduate of Providence Catholic High School with the Class of 1961. Betty worked for the telephone company as an operator, and later retired from Cub Foods. She was a member of Saint Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, where she was active with the Legion of Mary. She will be most remembered for her love of fishing.

Survivors include her husband James, whom she married September 4, 1971; daughter Susan King (fiance' - Eric Foo) of Minneapolis, Minnesota; one grandson; her aunt Fern and cousins: Gloria and Darlene.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and a Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Rose Catholic Church, 604 South Kankakee Street in Wilmington. Reverend Steve Bondi will officiate.
