Elayne M. Richer
Age 86 of Wheaton and formerly Glen Ellyn, passed away Thursday September 12, 2013 at the DuPage Convalescent Center in Wheaton.
Born August 19, 1927 in Chicago, Elayne was a daughter of the late George Herman and Bertha Othelia Isserstedt-Mahoney. She was raised in the Chicago area. Elayne retired from Safeway, where she managed their floral department. She was an active resident at DuPage Convalescent Center, where she worked in the kitchen, served on the pastoral council and safety committee and was past president of the residents council. She was honored as Woman of the Year by the American Business Women's Association and greatly enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society. Elayne will be remembered as 'The Angel Lady' and cherished her collection of angel's.
Survivors include her children: Judith (Armand) Bianchi of Diamond, Illinois, George (fiancAC.' Donna) Kirschbaum of Plainfield, Illinois and Timothy Richer of Georgia; three step-sons: Herbert (Mary) Richer of Tinley Park, Illinois, Howard (the late Sharon) Richer of Henderson, Nevada and Tom Richer of Romeoville, Illinois; eleven grandchildren: Roxanne (Paul) Thomas, Scott (Lynne) Richer, Michael (Sheri) Richer, Thomas (Miranda) Richer, Daniel (Amy) Bianchi, Beth (Steve) Kerr, Andrew Bianchi, James Bianchi, Kristina (Brad) Schrader, Robert Kirschbaum and Stephanie Kirschbaum; numerous great grandchildren and her sister-in-law Carletta Mahoney of Washington.
Elayne was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Donald Ruby, second husband Reinhold Kirschbaum, third husband Carl Richer, daughter Lynda Richer and two brothers: Lee Mahoney and George Mahoney.
Green cremation services are being accorded, and inurnment will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery, Elmhurst.
A memorial service will be held at DuPage County Convalescent Center, 400 North County Farm Road in Wheaton on Saturday September 28, 2013 at 3:30PM. Chaplain Ellen Ribe will officiate.
Preferred memorials may be made as gift's in Elayne's memory to the DuPage County Convalescent Center Foundation.
