Age 80 of Braceville, Illinois, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Loyola University Medical Center in Proviso Township, Illinois.
Born May 31, 1943 at the family home in Custer Township, Illinois, Edward Lee was a son of Earl and Marie (Downy) Sours. He was raised in the country in Custer Park, where he worked as a farmer. Edward later gained employment with Teamsters Local 179 of Joliet, with whom he was a member for over 50 years. He was a farmer at heart, finding peace working out in his garden. Edward enjoyed woodworking and loved RV camping.
Survivors include one brother and three sisters: Lois (the late Kenneth) Richmond of Wilmington, Illinois, Jeanette (the late Pastor Ray) Jones of Braceville, Carol (Nelson) Stephens of Brunswick, Georgia, and Gerald (Glemma) Sours of Vandalia, Illinois; one brother-in-law, Rev. Bill Stephens of Ramsey, Illinois, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents; eight siblings: Maynard Sours, Lester Sours, Raymond Sours, Eloise Sanor, Gary Sours, Dolores (Robert) Sjostrom, Vernon (Nancy) Warriner and Wanda Stephens.
Per Edward's wishes, cremation rites are being accorded, and the family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Friday, June 9, 2023 at Christian Faith Center, 1800 South Water Street, in Wilmington from 12:00 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 2:00 p.m.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Edward's memory to the charity of the donor's choosing.
