Edward L. Carr

Age 82 of Wilmington, passed away Tuesday morning, September 20, 2011 at Heritage Manor in Dwight.

Born February 24, 1929 in Wilmington, Edward was a son of the late Harry and Arzola Calhoun-Carr. He was a Veteran of The United States Army and honorably served during the Korean Conflict. On May 28, 1955, Edward married Betty Ann Warriner in Wilmington, and she survives. Edward worked as a security guard for a Caterpillar Tractor Company for many years, and was also employed at Whitmore Ace Hardware in Wilmington. He was a life member of American Legion Post #39 in Braidwood, Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post #5422 in Wilmington and also held membership with the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #241 in Wilmington.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years Betty; daughter Cheryl (John) Hall of Streator; sons: Thomas (Anne) Carr of Streator and Stephen (Bonnie) Carr and Kevin Carr, both of Dwight; two brothers: Charles (Angie) Carr of Wilmington and Roy (Ruth) Carr of Oakland, Illinois; nine grandchildren: Shelly (Brian) Durham of Streator, Kimberly Hall of Dwight, Jeremy (Heather) Hall, Catherine Carr, Joshua Carr, Jimmy Shear and Jacob (Jeannette) Shear, all of Streator, Trisha Bell of LaSalle and Jonathon Wills of Diamond; three great grandchildren: Henry Gene Hall, Jeremy Jo Hall, Jr. and Adrianna Reta, with another on the way; three nephews: Michael Carr, Sam Carr and Don Carr and two nieces: Debbie Duzan and Marcia Manigold.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law Anna and great granddaughter Addy Mae Shear.

The family will receive friends on Friday September 23, 2011 from 9:00AM until time of funeral service 11:30AM at Freitag-Reeves & Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Edwards nephew Don Carr will officiate and burial with full military honors will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be: Thomas Carr, Stephen Carr, Kevin Carr, Donald Carr, Mike Carr, Sam Carr, Jeremy Hall and John Hall.

Preferred memorial may be made as gifts in Edward's memory to: Kuzma Care Cottage 635 South Main Street, Wilmington, Illinois 60481.
