Age 84 of Wilmington and formerly Joliet, passed away peacefully Sunday March 14, 2010 at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet.

Born December 21, 1925 in Joliet, Dorothy was a daughter of the late Herbert and Nina Stewart-Barnes. She grew up in the Idle side neighborhood of Joliet and has lived in Wilmington for the past 20 years. Dorothy at one time worked for the Joliet Aresenal and was known as Grandma Cookies to her great grandchildren and children around her. Many people are familiar with Dorothy from the many cakes she shared with the community and her love of bingo. Some of Dorothy's other pastimes included gardening, garage sales, crafts and spending time family and friends.

Her family wishes to extend special thanks to Kathy and Grace.

Survivors include her children: Bonnie (Danny) Peters and Alan Randolph (Linda Lyday), both of Wilmington, Mark (Lori) Randolph of Phrump, Nevada, Donna (Don) LeBuis of Mokena and Bob (Faith) Zink of Joliet; (9) grandchildren; (14) great grandchildren and two brothers: Bill and Herb Barnes of South Dakota.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Nina Barnes; husband Irvin VanDyke and brother Richard Barnes.

A memorial visitation and video tribute will be held on Saturday March 20, 2010 from 10:00AM until time of service 12:00 Noon at Reeves Funeral Home, 219 North Joliet Street (two blocks North of Illinois Route 53 / Baltimore Street) in Wilmington. Pastor Chris Beamsley from Grace Lutheran Church in Wilmington will officiate and interment will be private.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Dorothy's memory to Kuzma Care Cottage, 635 South Main Street, Wilmington, Illinois 60481.
