Dorothy Louise Thomas

Age 92 of Diamond and formerly Petersburg, Illinois, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 27, 2016 at Park Point Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Morris.

Born July 27, 1924 in Easton, Illinois, Dorothy Louise was a daughter of Harmon A. and Adah C. (Wise) Bucks. She was raised in Petersburg, and graduated from Petersburg High School. Dorothy attended First Christian Church in Petersburg, and most recently New Hope Presbyterian Church in Coal City. She will be remembered for her loving of painting and sewing; was a wonderful seamstress, and leaves behind the book "A Soldiers Journal", which she was proud to have had published.

Survivors include her daughter Judith Cook Williams of Aurora; three grandchildren: Victoria Lee of Aurora, Richard (Jeannine) Williams of Mahomet and Susan Williams (Rick Scorby) of Chicago; six great grandchildren: Michael, William, Samantha, Matthew, Amanda and Carley; six great-great grandchildren: Cody, Dylan, Evan, Samantha, James and Jordan; two sisters-in-law: Donna Gutekunst and Beverly Thomas, both of Jacksonville, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as her dear friend Dora Finley of Springfield.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harlan Thomas; son-in-law Phillip Williams, and first husband Fred Cook.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2016 between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block north of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City, and again on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Hurley Funeral Home, 122 West Douglas Avenue in Petersburg, Illinois.

Graveside services will immediately follow at 12:30 p.m. in Petersburg Oakland Cemetery.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Dorothy's memory to Joliet Area Community Hospice.
