Age 76 of Goose Lake Township, Coal City, passed away Thursday afternoon October 15, 2009 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home in Joliet.

Born December 21, 1932, Dorothy was raised and educated in Chicago until moving to Coal City her freshman year of High School. She attended Coal City High School with the Class of 1951 and later studied at Moody Bible Institute. On August 10, 1952, Dorothy married Richard L. Peart in the First Presbyterian Church in Coal City, and together they farmed and raised their family in Goose Lake Township. Dorothy was a devoted member of Faith Baptist Church of Goose Lake, and her love for the Lord radiated to everyone she knew. She was a great cook and truly found joy in cooking and entertaining. Dorothy was a very giving person and enjoyed making others happy. She was dedicated to her family and adored her grandkids and great grandkids immensely.

Survivors include her loving husband of 57 Years: Richard L. Peart; four children: Peggy Hanley and her husband Kevin Kolodziej of Colorado, Mary Ellen Husa of Normal, Richard D. and his wife Tammy Peart of Goose Lake and Lynda Sue Peart of Bloomington; seven grandchildren: Michael (Debbie) Hanley of Chicago, Nathan (Anna) Hanley of Colorado, Heidi (Dave) McKernan of Colorado, Kristi Arthur of Normal, Kerri (Brandon) Meredith of Reddick, Tasha (Mike) Saltzman of Morris and Collin Hundley of Goose Lake; six great grandchildren: Jared, Jana, Kendall, Logan, Christian and Grace and two brothers: Robert (Masako) Bennett of Shorewood and James Bennett of Bloomington, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents: Stephen W. Bennett and Florence (nee Wilson); one sister Blanche Moser and one brother Stephen in Childhood.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Sunday October 18, 2009 between the hours of 3:00PM and 6:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Dorothy will then lie in state Monday October 19th at Faith Baptist Church of Goose Lake, 3950 Goose Lake Road (at Pine Bluff Road), from 9:00AM until time of funeral service 10:00AM. Pastor Caleb Counterman will officiate and burial will follow in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Duane Ehrler, John Noecker, Jeff Love, Jared Arthur, Michael Hanley, Nathan Hanley, Brandon Meredith and Kevin Kolodziej.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Dorothy's memory to Faith Baptist Church of Goose Lake, 3950 Goose Lake Road, Morris, Illinois 60450.
