Dorothy L. Luciano
Age 96 of Wilmington, passed away Friday morning December 6, 2013 at Presence Villa Franciscan in Joliet.
Born November 27, 1917 in Chicago, Dorothy was a daughter of the late Raymond and Beatrice Jaros-Lahey. She was raised and educated in Chicago and married Albert Smrha, Sr. who preceded her in death. She later married Michael Luciano and resided in Stickney until retiring to Mesa, Arizona. After the passing of Michael, Dorothy returned to Wilmington, where she was a hostess at the Launching Pad Drive-in, which her niece and nephew Sharon and Jerry Gatties owned. Dorothy was a member of Saint Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, enjoyed bowling, and belonged to a women's bowling league in Wilmington. She also took pleasure in working in her yard, tending to her plants and flowers and knitting.
Survivors include her step-son Michael (Dolly) Luciano of Huntley, Illinois; four grandchildren: Tracy (Bill) Kohlsaat, Nathan Smrha, Michael Luciano and Phillip Luciano; two great grandchildren: Kyle and Ryan Kohlsaat; one sister-in-law Theresa Lahey of Arizona and nieces and nephew: Sharon (Jerry) Gatties, Kathy (Bob) Huhn, Sheila Long, Ray (Collett) Mulrenin, Terry (Kathy) Mulrenin, Ed Mulrenin, Denise Mulrenin, Kathy Mulrenin, Linda (Jim) O'Keefe, Jori (Dann) Taylor, Jay (Rachel) Spolarich and Cyndy (Tim) Gray.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Albert Smrha, Sr., second husband Michael Luciano, son Albert Smrha, Jr., brothers and sisters: Bill Lahey, Eileen Raughton, Lucille Mulrenin and Bernice Korelc and nephews: Pete Gatties and Patrick, Tim and Tommy Melrenin.
Cremation rites are being accorded.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday December 10, 2013 from 9:00AM until time of memorial service 11:00AM at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Inurnment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Dorothy's memory to Saint Jude's Children's Hospitals.
