Dorothy Johnke
Age 85 of Wilmington, passed away Saturday April 25, 2015 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center.
Born January 25, 1930 in South Dakota, Dorothy was a daughter of the late Wilbur and Anna (VanHove) Sikkink. She was raised and educated in Centerville, South Dakota and married Kenneth Johnke, who preceded her in death in 1994. Dorothy was a charter member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Joliet and will be remembered for her love of shopping, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include children: Nancy (Greg) Griparis of Shorewood, Gloria (the late Victor) Lukas of Wilmington, Robert Johnke (Nancy Weber) of Shorewood, Phyllis (the late Robert) Webb of Morris and David (Kay) Johnke of Joliet; (16) grandchildren; (33) great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; one brother Alvin Sikkink and two sisters: Margaret Kropuenski and Carol (Jerome) Andersen.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth; son William Johnke; daughter and son-in-law: Vicky and John Palacios; two step-grandsons: John and Chris Palacios and one sister Delores Beynon.
The family will receive friends at Messiah Lutheran Church, 40 Houbolt Road in Joliet on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service 11:00 a.m. Pastor David Nygard will officiate and burial will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery in Joliet.
Pallbearers will be: Christopher Johnke, Rick Baker, Jason Romeo, Joshua Johnke, Justin Webb, Robert Sanchez and Kenneth Johnke.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Dorothy’s memory to her family for their distribution.
