Dorothy E. Jennings

Age 90 of Morris and a winter resident of Ocala Florida, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening August 31, 2011 at Morris Hospital.

Born January 27, 1921 in Joliet, Dorothy was a daughter of the late John and Sophia Sharpe-Webb. She was raised and educated in Joliet and was a graduate of Saint Francis College. Dorothy married Arvid Dee Sanders, and together they owned and operated Delihanty and Joliet Tobacco Company in Joliet until Arvid's death in 1961. She later remarried Arthur Jennings, whom she owned and operated the Lonestar Restaurant and Bar along with, until retiring in 1972. Dorothy truly lived life to the fullest and can be remembered for her great love of wintering in Florida, in which she had the opportunity to do for 40 years.

Survivors include five children: Georgia Lee Jagodzinski of Toledo, Ohio, Robert D. (Gail) Sanders of DeLand, Florida, Nancy Lee (Art) Sage of Mazon, Sharon Lee Sanders of Ocala, Florida and Jim D. (Billie Jo) Sanders of Orlando, Florida; three step-children: Donald E. (Juanita) Jennings of Morris, Lois Norton of Minooka and June Kisellus of Bradenton, Florida and numerous grand children and great grandchildren, as well as a host of supporting friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Arvid Dee Sanders (December 19, 1961); second husband Arthur Jennings (August 4, 1988); one brother and two sisters.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday September 6, 2011 from 4:00PM until time of memorial service 6:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block East of Illinois Route 47) in Morris.

A private family inurnment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet with Dorothy's grandsons as honorary pallbearers.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Dorothy's memory to a charity of the donor's choosing.
