Dorothy Hines
Age 89 and a lifelong resident of Coal City, passed away Tuesday evening May 08, 2007 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois.
Born December 01, 1917 in Coal City, Dorothy was a daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Planeta) Rubin. She was raised and educated in Coal City and Graduated from Coal City High School with the graduating class of 1935. On October 02, 1937 Dorothy married Robert Hines in the Assumption Catholic Church Rectory in Coal City and together they lived their entire married life in Coal City. Dorothy worked at Granerts Clothing Factory during World War II and was then a home maker prior to gaining employment as a caterer with Kit and Dahl Catering, where she worked until her retirement. She was an active member of Assumption Catholic Church, and in her free time Dorothy enjoyed word puzzles, sewing and watching game shows.
Survivors include two daughters: Mary (Kent) Morris of Essex and Dr. Dorothy K. Hines of Elmhurst. Five grandchildren: Robert (Patricia) Morris of Norfolk, Nebraska, Scott (Marci) Morris of Juda, Wisconsin, Nora (Dennis) Ford of Green Valley, Arizona and Erin (Lee) Taylor and Patrick (Ryan) Morris, both of Kankakee. Seven great grandchildren: Delaney Morris, Miriam Morris, Jace Morris, Sara Morris, Logan Morris, Brennan Morris and Daniel Morris and one sister-in-law Catherine Hines of Coal City, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert in 2005, her mother and father-in-law Daniel and Elizabeth Hines and one brother Albert Rubin.
Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Friday May 11, 2007 between the hours of 3:00PM and 9:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow on Saturday May 12th at 10:00AM in Assumption Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev. Mike Pennock officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington and Dorothy's grandchildren will act as pallbearers.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Dorothy's memory to Assumption Catholic Church Building Fund, 245 South Kankakee Street, Coal City, Illinois 60416.
