Dorothy Harms

Age 85 of Wilmington and formerly of New Lenox, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Silver Cross Medical Center in New Lenox.

Born January 2, 1930 in Chicago, Dorothy was a daughter of the late Stanley and Caroline (Dudzik) Techman. She was raised in New Lenox and graduated from Joliet Township High School. Dorothy was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington and formerly belonged to the Illinois Retail Liquor Association, where she also served as Secretary. Dorothy worked for many years as a cashier at Wee-Sip Liquors in Wilmington, and will be remembered for her love of watching Jeopardy, playing bingo and following the Chicago Cubs.

Survivors include three daughters: Debbie (Tim) Spisak, Tina (Todd) Schneider and Candy (Mark) Shell, all of Wilmington; (11) grandchildren: Heather (Josh) Sabotta, Timothy M. Spisak, Damian Rodriguez, Stephen Rodriguez, Kelly Schneider, Kelly Lusson, Joelle Lusson, Philip Lusson, Jr., Bethani (John) Hincherick, Mark, Jr. (Rachel) Shell, and Kaylee Shell; (5) great grandchildren: Makenzie, Brayden, Melia, Cruz and Talon, and three brothers: John (Nancy) Techman and Donald (Gwen) Techman, both of New Lenox and Robert (Sandy) Techman of Wellington, Florida, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband Theodore (1971); son Joseph Harms and one grandson Joseph Spisak.

Visitation will be Saturday June 13, 2015 at St. Rose Catholic Church, 604 South Kankakee Street in Wilmington from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev. Steve Bondi officiating. Flameless Green Cremation will follow the services and inurnment will be private.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Dorothy’s memory to Kuzma Care Cottage, 635 South Main St., Wilmington, IL 60481.
