Dorothy Maxine Echerd

Age 88 of Auburn, passed away Thursday August 25, 2011 at Morris Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Morris.

Born on June 19, 1923, in rural Auburn, Maxine was the daughter of Homer and Ruth Lowe. Dorothy married Robert C. Echerd in 1943 at Auburn. They were married for 53 years prior to Robert's death in 1997.

Maxine retired in 1988 after a career with the Rural Electric Convenience Cooperative of Auburn. Prior to joining Rural Electric, she worked several years at the State Bank of Auburn. She was her husband's partner throughout his farming career in the Auburn area. Maxine was an active member of the Auburn United Methodist Church, serving on various church committees. She greatly enjoyed playing cards, quilting, and spending time with her many friends in Auburn.

Surviving are two daughters, Sue (Bob) Cummings of Morris, IL and Linda (James) Olson of Wilson, WY; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held from 10 am until time of services at 11:30 am, Monday, August 29, 2011 at Bramley Funeral Home, Auburn with Rev. Brian Caughlan.

Burial was in Auburn Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Auburn United Methodist Church.
