Age 87 of Morris, passed away Wednesday evening, January 11, 2017 at Park Pointe Healthcare in Morris.

Born March 5, 1929 in Seneca, Doris Elizabeth was a daughter of the late Carl R. Erickson and Allie (nee Anderson). She was raised and educated in the Seneca Schools, and at the age of 19 moved to Morris. Her employment over the years entailed working at Hornsby's Department Store printing store signs, at Illinois Valley Workshop, and later as a gas station attendant and retail clerk in Morris. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris, The Coalition of Citizens with Disabilities in Illinois (CCDI) and belonged to the VFW Auxiliary, which she was proud to have served in various offices through the years. Doris enjoyed to crochet, play bingo and bowl. She was a collector of movies, and will be remembered for her vast collection of Beanie Babies.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law: Michael L. and Terry Kowalczyk of Morris; two grandsons: Michael D. (Annie) Kowalczyk of Oak Brook and Timothy L. (Melissa) Kowalczyk of Minonk; five great grandchildren: Kevin Kowalczyk, Nicholas Kowalczyk, Joseph Kowalczyk, Wesley Kowalczyk and Madelynn Kowalczyk; one brother Carl A. Erickson; two sisters: Betty Lou Hopkins and Frances Ness and many nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents: Carl R. Erickson and Allie Vicich; one brother David E. Erickson and one sister Margaret A. Edwards .

Visitation and video tribute will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2017 between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block east of Illinois Route 47) in Morris. Funeral services will follow Monday morning, January 16th at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home with Reverend Ed Howe, CR from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Morris. Pallbearers will be: Michael Kowalczyk, Kevin Kowalczyk, Nicholas Kowalczyk, Joseph Kowalczyk and Timothy Kowalczyk. Honorary pallbearers will be Wesley Kowalczyk and Madelynn Kowalczyk.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Doris' memory to her family for distribution to local charities of their choosing.
