Donnie Poppleton

Age 30 of Braidwood passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday January 27, 2016.

Born June 5, 1985 in Joliet, Donald James is a son of Paul and Judy (Minton) Poppleton. He was raised and educated in Braidwood, and formerly held employment with Wilmington Overhead and Door Company.  Donnie was very artistic and enjoyed drawing.  He had a big heart and was known in the neighborhood as someone who took pleasure in helping others.

Survivors include his parents Paul and Judy Poppleton of Braidwood; one son Layton James Poppleton and the mother of his son: Kelly O’Toole, both of Elmwood, Nebraska; his paternal grandmother: Nancy Ann Howard of Hiram, Georgia; aunts and uncles: Louise (Roger) Sparks, Peggy Minton, James Minton, Barbara Minton, Paul (Angela) Minton, Nancy (Bill) Horn, John (Martha) Minton, Debbie Pointer, Donell (Johnny) Watkins and Shawn White, and numerous great aunts and great uncles, as well as cousins and friends.

Donnie was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: William and Agnes Minton; paternal grandfather: Donald Ray Poppleton, and aunt Mary Catherine Minton-Mitchell.

Visitation and video tribute will be Monday February 1, 2016 between the hours of 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Christian Faith Center, 1800 South Water Street, in Wilmington.  Funeral services will follow in the church on Tuesday February 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Kurtes Quisenberry officiating.  Burial will follow the services in Wesley Cemetery.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Donnie’s memory to the family for their distribution.
