Donald N. Kodrick

Age 85 of Shorewood, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

Born December 12, 1930 in Joliet, Donald Nicholas was a son of Louis P. and Isabel P. (Simonic) Kodrick. He was raised in Joliet and graduated from Joliet Catholic High School. Don enlisted with the US Navy, however was soon thereafter drafted into the US Army, where he honorably served during the Korean Conflict. On May 14, 1955, Don married Carol Reeves in St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington. He was one of the owners of Diamond Construction Co. and later owned and operated Kodrick Earthworks before retiring. During his years in business, he was proud to have been honored as 'Man of the Year' by Women in Construction. He was a member of the Church of St. Jude in Joliet. Don loved the Northwoods, and enjoyed spending his summers at his home in Mercer, Wisconsin and winters on Marco Island in Florida.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Carol; son Kevin (Lynn) Kodrick of Frankfort; daughter Candace Lawrence (Kim Trager) of Naperville; four grandsons: Nicholas Kodrick of Naples, FL, Matthew Kodrick of Lisle, IL, Charles Lawrence of Santa Ynez, CA and Weston Spoon of Siesta Key, FL; three aunts: Mrs. Marcelle (the late Frank) Kodrick of Joliet, Mrs. Clair Virginia (the late Edward) Simonic of Crest Hill and Mrs. Mary (the late Robert) Kodrick of Plainfield; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Lawrence J. Pubentz and Janice Cracraft, both of Shorewood, Gregory Reeves of Wilmington and Sandra Reeves of Oswego.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; sister Margaret Pubentz; father and mother-in-law: Charles and Juanita Reeves; brothers-in-law: C. James Reeves, John Hiller and Frank Cracraft, and one nephew Rick Bray.

Visitation will be held Sunday, August 28, 2016 between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. at Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home, 1500 Black Road in Joliet (815-744-4444). Funeral services will follow Monday morning, August 29th at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Jude, 2209 McDonough Street in Joliet. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev. Michael Lane officiating. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, where Don will be laid to rest with full military honors.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Don's memory to a charity of the donor's choosing.
