Dominic J. Ferrara
Age 90 of Mazon, passed away Friday February 21, 2014 peacefully at his home surrounded by family.
Born March 16, 1923 in Bloomington, Illinois, Dominic was a son of the late Antonino and Maria D'Anna-Ferrara. He honorably served as a medic in the United States Army during WWII, and on June 27, 1942, Dominic married Marjorie D. Coyle. Together they eventually moved to Mazon and became employed with Isham Farms. He was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed coaching his men's and co-ed softball teams. Dominic played on the men's team for many years, and took pleasure in planting his gardens. His biggest joys in life were spending time with his family, as well as with his buddy Pepper and newly acquired buddy Maxi.
Dominic is survived by a daughter Renee (Roger) Haacke; sons: Richard (Beth) Ferrara, Dana Ferrara, Dale (Carla) Ferrara and son-in-law Vernon Arnold; Grandchildren: Brian (Stephanie) Arnold, Deidre (Jerry) Haff, Rik Ferrara, Brett (Mary) Ferrara, Dan (Rachel) Edwards, Joey Lynn (Steve) Stone, Eric (Courtney) Ferrara, Doug (Tifanie) Ferrara, Chad (Samantha) Lindemuth, Cory (Kristin) Lindemuth, Cyle (Denise) Lindemuth, Cirk (Brittany Bell) Lindemuth, Carre (Steve Taggert) Ferrara, Alex Haacke, Jill Haacke and Austin Haacke; (34) great grandchildren; (19) great-great grandchildren; a sister Teresa (Bob) Watt; brother Andrew Ferrara, and many nieces and nephews, as well as special extended family members: John (Nancy) Yanites, Kevin (Nancy) Kinzler and Debbie Walsh.
Dominic was preceded in death by his parents; wife Marjorie in September of 2008; daughters: Donna Arnold in September of 2007 and Eva Lindemuth in May of 1995; one grandson Kevin Arnold in infancy; brothers: Tony, Joe, Daniel, Samuel and John and sisters: Anna, Margaret, Wanda, Emma, Mella and Lena.
Visitation and video tribute will be held on Tuesday February 25, 2014 between the hours of 4:00PM and 9:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow Wednesday morning February 26th at 10:00AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 600 East Jackson Street in Morris. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Ed Howe, CR officiating.
Burial will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Brian Arnold, Dan Edwards, Rik Ferrara, Brett Ferrara, Eric Ferrara, Doug Ferrara, Chad Lindemuth, Cory Lindemuth, Cyle Lindemuth and Cirk Lindemuth. Honorary pallbearers will be: Jerry Haff, Steve Stone and Steve Taggert.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Dominic's memory to the American Cancer Society, Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice or to a charity of the donor's choosing.
