Dinah Faye Derby

Age 73, a resident of Heritage Health in Dwight, and formerly of Murdock, Illinois, passed away Friday evening, September 30, 2016 at Morris Hospital.

Born October 15, 1942 in Indianapolis, Indiana, Dinah was a daughter of Donald and Martha (Woodard) Derby. She was raised and educated in Murdock and graduated from Newman High School. Dinah worked as a secretary at the University of Illinois, before taking a leave to become a full-time caregiver for her mother. She was a member of the Murdock United Methodist Church. In her earlier years, Dinah was involved with 4-H, and will be remembered as a great collector. She was proud of her collection of more than 3000 cookbooks.

Survivors include her sister-in-law Kay Derby of Murray, Kentucky; nieces and nephews: Connie Buberle (Gary Vilt) of Coal City, Jennifer (Don) Dumbris of Golconda, Illinois, Bernita (Frankie) Barborka of Murray, Kentucky, Brodrick Eugene Derby of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Debra (Terry) Darnell and Eric (Tammie) Derby, both of Murray, Kentucky, Nancy Derby of Urbana, Illinois and Joyce Derby of Coal City; (16) great nieces and nephews and numerous great-great nieces and nephews.

Dinah was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Phillip Derby, Eugene (Margaret) Derby and Ronnie Derby, and two nephews: Phillip Derby, Jr. and Bruce Derby.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a graveside service will be held on Friday, November 4, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in Murdock Cemetery, where Dinah will be laid to rest with her family.
