Diane G. Hargis

Age 72 of Gardner, formerly Joliet, passed away peacefully on Wednesday January 20, 2016 at her home.

Born January 3, 1944 in Memphis, Tennessee, Diane Grace was a daughter of the late William O. and Esther Eckland-Weeks. She moved to Joliet at the age of eight, and on September 25, 1961, she married Ray Allen Hargis in Joliet.  Diane was a member of First Baptist Church in Dwight, and will be remembered as mother to everyone.  She truly cherished her children, grandchildren great grandchildren, in addition to all of their friends.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years: Ray Hargis of Gardner; three children: Kathryn Mary (Gus) Arnstrom of Gardner, RaeAnn Cotton of Braidwood and Lydia (Jon) Johnson of Gardner; three grandchildren: Miranda (David) Warren of Gardner, Allen (Dawn) Cotton of Wilmington and Matthew Cotton of Braidwood; four great grandchildren: Dillan, Rylynn and Ericca Warren, and Noah Cotton; one sister: Nancy Harrison of Diamond, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents; her son: Fredrick Allen Hargis; two siblings: Charlotte (Jefferson) Brown and Bruce Weeks; one brother-in-law: Charles Harrison, and one nephew: Bruce.

Visitation will be Wednesday January 27, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service, 11:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church, 401 North Clinton Street, in Dwight.  Dr. Daniel L. Woodward will officiate, and burial will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Diane’s memory to the family for their distribution.
