Delores Vacca
Age 80 of Coal City, passed away Tuesday January 02, 2007 at her home.
She was born on August 07, 1926 in Braceville Township and was the daughter of Joseph A. and Laura (Motta) Bertino. She attended Eureka and Diamond Country Schools and was a graduate of Coal City High School with the Class of 1943.
On August 17, 1947 she married Donald J. Vacca in Coal City and all of their married life was spent in Coal City. He preceded her in death on July 09, 2002.
Delores was employed as a legal secretary, as a secretary at the Ammunition Procurement and Supply Agency (APSA) and as a typesetter for Bailey Printing and Publishing until her retirement in 1988.
She was a life-long member of Assumption Parish in Coal City. She enjoyed composing poetry for her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Joseph D. Bertino and one sister-in-law Pat Bertino, one nephew Joseph M. Bertino and one niece Lori Brassard.
Survivors include one son John of Coal City and two daughters: Donna Gordon of Coal City and Carla Vacca of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania. One grandson Dave Hahn of Gardner and a beloved great granddaughter Miranda Hahn. Also one sister and brother-in-law Jessie and Joseph H. Kasher and former son-in-law William Gordon, all of Coal City, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 9:30AM on Friday January 05, 2007 from Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City to Assumption Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM with Rev. Mike Pennock officiating.
Burial will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery with active pallbearers: Dave Hahn, Jeff Kasher, William Gordon, Michael Bertino, Ryan D'Arcy and Jack Micetich and Honorary Pallbearers: Joseph Kasher, Charles "Bud" Butler, Larry Roseland, Raymond "Zack" Zawrazky and the Class of 1943.
Visitation will be Thursday January 04, 2007 from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Delores' memory to Rainbow Council, Boy Scouts of America or Grundy Community Volunteer Hospice.
