Delano Eugene Lacy, Jr.

Age 48 of Wilmington, passed away Wednesday June 29, 2011 at his home.

Born September 5, 1962 in Chicago, Del is a son of Dorothy Lacy (nee Micals) of Oak Forest, Illinois and the late Delano E. Lacy, Sr. He was raised and educated in Chicago and proudly served in the United States Army. Del worked most of his life as a Carpenter with the Carpenters Local #70. He was a member of Saint Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, the Wilmington Moose Lodge and the Malcolm J. Mayo VFW Post in Wilmington. Del truly enjoyed his Harley, boating, fishing and baking cakes. He can also be remembered as a great Chicago, White Sox, Bears and Blackhawks fan, as well as a devoted Dad.

Survivors include his loving wife Kate, whom he married November 30, 1985 in Markam, Illinois; six sons: Zachary Lacy, Del Lacy, III, Patrick Lacy, Donald Lacy, Luke Lacy and Daniel Lacy; his mother Dorothy Lacy of Oak Forest; one brother and three sisters: Victoria (Tony) Maroldo, Laura Lacy, Chris Lacy and Michelle (John) Joyce and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Del was preceded in death by his father Delano E. Lacy, Sr.; two sons: Joshua and Jacob and one sister Cheryl Lacy.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Friday July 1, 2011 between the hours of 3:00PM and 8:00PM at Freitag-Reeves & Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. (815/476-2181) Funeral services will follow Saturday July 2, 2011 at 10:00AM in Saint Rose Catholic Church, 624 South Kankakee Street in Wilmington, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Steve Bondi officiating.

Burial with full military honors provided by the Malcolm J. Mayo VFW Color Guard will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington.
