Age 48 of Coal City, passed away unexpectedly Friday June 8, 2012.

Born October 26, 1963 in Joliet, Debbie is a daughter of Roger and Brenda (nee Brady) Melvin of Coal City. She was raised and educated in Coal City and was a graduate of Coal City High School with the Class of 1981. Debbie was a member of Coal City Area Club and greatly enjoyed camping and cooking.

Survivors include her husband Todd Schumacher, whom she married November 1, 2003; four children: Heather Popovich, Brian Popovich and Julie Popovich, all of Coal City and Amy Popovich of Braidwood; one granddaughter Emily Popovich, whom she adored and cherished spending time with; her parents: Roger and Brenda Melvin; two brothers: Dean (Marianne) Melvin of Coal City and Darren (Heather) Melvin of Shorewood; one sister Jennie (Art) Johnson of Crest Hill; her mother-in-law: Marilyn Schumacher of Joliet; sister-in-law: Lisa (Rich) Horwath of Joliet; two uncles; one aunt; two nieces and four nephews.

Debbie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents: Donna and Eldo Brady and paternal grandparents: Earl and Edith Melvin.

Visitation and Video Tribute will be held on Tuesday June 12, 2012 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Debbie's memory to the Coal City Fireman's Association, 35 South DeWitt Place, Coal City, Illinois 60416 or to her family for their distribution.
