David Michael Skubic
Age 28 of Coal City passed away unexpectedly Thursday November 17, 2016 at Valley West Hospital in Sandwich.
Born February 13, 1988 in Joliet, David Michael is a son of Michael and Joyce (Bertani) Skubic. He was raised and educated in Coal City, where he attended Assumption Catholic Church and graduated from Coal City High School with the Class of 2006. David went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Business from Illinois State University in 2011, and previously worked as a mechanic at Dockside Marina in Wilmington. Currently David was employed by Lake Holiday Marina in Somonauk as a sales manager. He was a huge Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago White Sox fan, and will be remembered as being great with kids. David was at home on the water, and looked forward to the summertime, when he could be on a boat, sea doo or wake board.
He is survived by his parents: Michael and Joyce Skubic of Wilmington; maternal grandmother: Doris Bertani of Joliet; one brother and one sister: Daniel Skubic of Denver, Colorado, and Sarah Skubic of Wilmington; aunts and uncles: Butch (Phyllis) Skubic of Coal City, Terry Jostes of Joliet, Bob (Sally) Bertani of Wilmington, Susan Bertani of Joliet, Amy (Jeff) Tomczak of Homer Glen, Matthew (Kathy) Bertani of Joliet, Eileen (Todd) Jackson of Tucson, Arizona, Peter (Andrea) Bertani of Joliet, and Nancy Bertani of Tinley Park; great aunts and uncle: Jean Agazzi of Joliet, Louella (Jim) Howell of Wilmington, Leila Rhodes of Wilmington, Lorraine Vilt of Carbon Hill, and Lester Waldron of California.
David was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: Louis R. Bertani; paternal grandparents: Frank and Louise Skubic; and one aunt: Anita Skubic.
Visitation and video tribute will be Monday November 21, 2016 at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 604 South Kankakee Street, in Wilmington, between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the church Tuesday morning, November 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be: Matt Stevens, Bryan Bertani, Jeff McDade, Brian Gill, Chris Jostes, Brad Skubic, Steve Vargo and Louie Bertani.
Green flameless cremation rites will be accorded following the funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials may be made in David's memory to Ronald McDonald House Charities, 1301 West 22nd Street, Suite 905, Oak Brook, Illinois 60523.
