David "Rip" Farrero
Age 83 and a life long resident of Carbon Hill, passed away Thursday February 20, 2014.
Born August 13, 1930 in Carbon Hill, David Anthony was a son of the late Anna (nee Jacklich) and John E. Farrero. He was raised in Carbon Hill, graduated from Coal City High School and honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Coal City and the Morris Moose Lodge. He retired from DuPont Chemical Company and in his younger years, enjoyed hunting and fishing. Rip will be remembered for his large vegetable garden, which he grew at his home in Carbon Hill.
Survivors include two nephews: Steven (Kathy) Farrero of Coal City and John Farrero of Morris; his sister-in-law Barbara J. Farrero of Morris; great niece Kara, great nephew David and one sister Esther Farrero of Los Angeles, California, as well as several cousins.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents John E. Farrero and Anna Goldie; brother John "Rip" Farrero and half brother Hugh Goldie.
Visitation will be held on Monday February 24, 2014 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow Tuesday February 25th at 9:30AM in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 245 South Kankakee Street in Coal City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Robert Noesen officiating.
Burial will be in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery and pallbearers will be: Richard Farrero, Anthony Farrero, David Pierard, John Vacca, Gary Lissy and David Farrero.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Rip's memory to a charity of the donor's choosing.
