David C. Brickey

Age 69 of Braceville and formerly of Wilmington, passed away Monday evening, October 17, 2016 at his home.

Born June 25, 1947 in Joplin, Missouri, David Clare was a son of Clare and Elnora (Mershone) Brickey. He traveled with his family in the military, and graduated from Wilmington High School with the Class of 1965. Dave went on to honorably serve in the United States Army and earned his AAS in Electronics. On December 31, 1978, he married Linda Kahler in Grace Lutheran Church in Wilmington. Dave previously owned and operated Braidwood Electronics and more recently was employed as an electrician with Crown Cork Seal in Aurora for 15 years.

Dave was a talented musician and enjoyed playing the guitar. He was also an avid fisherman, who was proud to have recently received the Big Bass Trophy from the Bass Anglers Association.

Survivors include his wife Linda; three children: Carol and Doug Bradley of Wilmington, Carla Jones (Harry Watters, Jr.) of Braceville and Rick (Jennifer) Chaney of Braidwood; four grandchildren: Trisha Bell, Jonathan Wills, Richard Chaney, Jr. and Gillian Byerly; three great grandchildren: Adrianna Reta, Zoey Dominguez and Nevaeh Cardoza; three brothers: Mark (Donna) Brickey, Matt (Karen) Brickey and John (Ginger) Brickey; two sisters: Rebecca Riggio and Mary Brickey (Armando) Perez and special friends: Anne Hill and Michelle and Patrick Penna.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Heather Marie Cardoza and nephew Thomas T.J. Robinette, Jr.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Saturday October 22, 2016 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Graveside services will immediately follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Dave’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
