Dave DeAngelo
Age 66 of Coal City passed away Monday February 6, 2017, surrounded by his family and friends, after a 2 ½ year battle with Medullary Thyroid Cancer.
Born February 1, 1951, in Chicago Heights, David John was a son of John and Lorrine (Morris) DeAngelo. He was raised and educated in Crete, and graduated from Crete-Monee High School with the Class of 1969. Dave received a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University in mechanical engineering. On July 19, 1975, he married Nancy Sue DeBoer in Dolton, Illinois. Dave retired from LyondellBassell Industries in June of 2013 after 38 years of service. After his retirement he went on to work at Stepan Chemical Company as a Global Mechanical Integrity Specialist. An avid outdoorsman, Dave enjoyed hiking, fishing and hunting. He also loved to watch and feed the birds. Dave was the ultimate problem solver who could fix anything, and will be remembered as everyone’s best friend.
Survivors include his wife: Nancy DeAngelo of Coal City; three children: Jessie (Jason) Decker of Scottsdale, Arizona, David John “Chip” (Susan) DeAngelo of DeKalb, and Daniel Thomas “Danny” (Amy) DeAngelo of Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren: Maddie Decker, Lizzie Decker, and Johnny DeAngelo, with another grandson on the way; his mother-in-law: Alice (the late Harry) Bate DeBoer of Crete; brothers and sisters: Allen (Amy) DeAngelo of Hazel Crest, Illinois, Rick (Diane) DeAngelo of Burnsville, Minnesota, Carol (Tony) Irvin of Griffith, Indiana, Jim DeAngelo of Crete and Yvonne DeAngelo (Ron) of Schaumburg; brother and sisters-in-law: Louise (the late Leo) Bourg of Lawrence, Michigan, Joan (Paul) Heath of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Carol (Greg) Nyczak of Hinsdale, Tom (Bo) DeBoer of Lakewood, Colorado and Joyce DeAngelo of Apache Junction, Arizona, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother John in infancy.
Visitation will be Friday February 10, 2017 at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway, in Coal City, between the hours of 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow on Saturday February 11, 2017 in the funeral home at 12:00 p.m., with Reverend Bradley Shumaker from Coal City United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow the service in Peotone Cemetery.
