Age 67 of Wilmington, formerly of Oak Lawn and Beverly, passed away Tuesday January 27, 2015 at Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital. Born March 16, 1947 in Chicago, Danny was a son of the late Earl Sechler and Dorthy Jean McFall-May. He was raised and educated in the south suburbs of Chicago, and after graduating high school he served his country in the United States Army. Danny served during the Vietnam War, and as a decorated sharp shooter he was awarded the Bronze Service Star and the National Defense Service Medal. Following his military service, he began his professional life as a Chicago police officer, but would go on to pursue a career with the Laborer's Union and worked most recently as a foreman with Mcl Construction Corporation in Chicago. Danny will be most remembered for his love and adoration for his grandchildren.

Survivors include his three children: Jason (Colleen) May of Carter Lake, IA, Amber (Dana) Hanning of Beaumont, TX and April (James) Regocki of Buford, GA; five grandchildren: Alexandria (Aaron), Bailee, Teague, Gianna and Sienna; one brother: Ronny May of Midlothian; one sister: Sandi (Mark) Radtke of Aurora; as well as many nieces and nephews and his previous wife and special friend: Carol May.

Danny was preceded in death by his parent s and his brother: Johnny May.

A visitation will be held on Sunday February 1, 2015 between the hours of 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road, in Wilmington. Family and friends will assemble on Monday February 2, 2015 at 9:30 am to depart at 10:00 am for Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, where Danny will receive full military honors.
