Daniel J. Hitz

Age 42 of Wilmington, passed away Thursday April 20, 2017.

Born June 6, 1974 in Freeport, Illinois, Daniel Jacob is the son of David and Colleen (nee Gilmore) Hitz. He was raised and educated in Mount Carroll, Frankfort and Manteno, and graduated from Manteno High School with the Class of 1993. On July 17, 1998, Daniel married Tracy Lynn Nolan on the beaches of St. Lucia in the Caribbean. He was a carpenter with Local Union #174, and worked for many different companies, most recently Brieser Construction Company in Channahon. Daniel was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed deer, goose and duck hunting. He also enjoyed fishing and camping, and was a former member of the Manteno Sportsman’s Club.

Survivors include his parents: David and Colleen Hitz of Viroqua, Wisconsin; his wife: Tracy Hitz of Wilmington; three children: Matthew Menozi of Orlando, Florida, Jacob Hitz of Bradley and Keagan Hitz of Wilmington; three sisters: Lisa (Barney) Whiteman of Story, Wyoming, Laurelin Richter of Aston, Virginia, and Katie (John) McNally of Casper, Wyoming; mother and father-in-law: Patrick and Linda Nolan of Wilmington; two sisters-in-law: Ryan (Pat) Morris of Kankakee and Megan (Jacob) Goldsmith of Holland, Michigan, in addition to several aunts and uncles and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Daniel was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Visitation and video tribute will be Friday April 28, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until Celebration of Life, 7:00 p.m., at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road, in Wilmington. Flameless cremation services will be accorded following the funeral service.

Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Daniel’s memory to the family for their distribution.
