Corene D. Peters

Age 87 of Coal City, passed away Thursday November 21, 2013 at Walnut Grove Villa in Morris.

Born August 28, 1926 in Coal City, Corene was a daughter of Angelo and Jennie Menietto-Zambon. She was raised and educated in Coal City, and graduated from Coal City High School with the class of 1943. On October 25, 1947, Corene married James Peters in Assumption Catholic Church, and together they lived in Coal City their entire married life. Corene enjoyed bowling, fishing and dancing, and was a tremendous Chicago White Sox fan.

Survivors include her three children: Cheryl Baker of Pennsylvania, Jan (Terry) Burns of Arizona and Martin Peters of Coal City; Five grandchildren: JenyLee Pagano, Nicole Lee, Robert Guardiola, Michelle (Lance) Caroll and Mike Burns; two great grandchildren: Syara, Andrew, Piper and Oryannah; two sisters: Annette (Late George) Schock and Lorene (Wayne) Roseland and numerous nieces and nephews.

Corene was preceded in death by her parents; husband James; daughter: Jill (Ronnie) Benson; grandson: Christopher Benson and brother in law George Schock.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday December 3, 2013 between the hours of 4:00pm and 7:00pm at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 North Broadway (one block North of Illinois Route 113) in Coal City. Funeral services will follow Wednesday December 4th at 10:00am in the funeral home. In Corene's spirit of her love for the Chicago White Sox, the family invites those attending the visitation and services to wear their favorite team spirit wear to the funeral home.

Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Braidwood.

Pallbearers will be: Rick Roseland, Kenneth Schock, Keith Roseland, Terry Burns, Larry Roseland and Mark Lissy.

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Corene's memory to her family for distribution to local charities of their choosing.
